Contest Rules

Your photographs help AVA protect the regions amazing diversity of wildlife, plants and habitats and lifestyle. Thank you for helping to further our mission through your photography.

There is no limit to the number of entries per person.

Acceptable entries must be digital and in JPEG format, Compositional changes to digital files are not acceptable and will be disqualified; tonal or colour cast corrections are acceptable. For all entries, original material capture file should be available for reproduction purposes.

To be considered in the contest, all submissions must be original, unpublished photographs taken in the Alouette Valley.

You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit — including ownership if applicable. If your image is selected as noteworthy, finalist, or winner of the competition, you grant AVA and the Maple Ridge News a nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:

  • Publish the images for AVA’s purposes in any format, including on The AVA website and in AVA publications or presentations, such as newsletters, brochures, fundraising appeals, public service announcements, grant proposals, reports, awards, thank-you cards, displays, mailings and invitations.
  • Use, in connection with the Photo Contest, your name, city, province and country of residence in promotions and other publications.
  • Publish the image in the Maple Ridge News

As conditions of this permission, AVA shall credit all photographs with the caption “© Person’s Name” when the full name is available.

All photographs to be submitted by November 15th 2011

Limit of one (2) prize(s) per person or household.

Winners names and as many of the winning photographs as space permits, are scheduled to be published in December 2011.

All photographs must be taken in the Alouette Valley (see map below)

All prizes must be accepted as awarded, and are not convertible to cash.

Eligibility: The AVA Photo Contest is open to any photographer who lives in or visits the Alouette Valley.

Only the photographer has the right to submit a photograph.

By submitting the photograph, the participant consents to entry of his or her submission and agrees to these Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters to this contest.

Judging

Judging: A qualified panel of sponsor judges will judge eligible entries. All decisions of the Contest judges are final.
